Standing With Our International Students

Posted on July 09, 2020

Dear UNCG Community,

On July 6, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released guidelines prohibiting international students from remaining on campus if classes are held online.

At UNCG, we support our international students and faculty fully. They make UNCG better and stronger. They make our community richer and more vibrant. We are honored each and every time an international student chooses UNCG from literally a world of possibilities.

We are already working with each of our international students individually to address this issue and find solutions so they can maintain their academic progress, participate in their research, and remain part of our community. We believe our implementation of hybrid (in person and online) teaching and research programs will help us address these issues.

While we work to mitigate any direct impacts to our students, we also will work with those across higher education, our colleagues in the UNC System, and with our boards and elected leaders to advocate for our students.

If you have specific questions, please email UNCG’s International Programs Center at [email protected] or The Graduate School at [email protected].

As UNCG, our nation, and the world wrestle with adversity and uncertainty, we must make this clear to our international students and faculty: We support you. We need you. And we will stand with you as we face this challenge together.
