Dear fellow Spartans,
As the semester winds down and the holidays approach, UNCG is coming together to support Spartans in need. Many students, faculty, and staff face growing challenges putting food on the table, but we can help.
At the heart of this effort is Spartan Open Pantry, providing nutritious food and essential supplies to our campus community. From Nov. 6–20, the UNCG Staff Senate, with support from the Faculty Senate, will host a Cornucopia of Care food drive to fill the pantry shelves at the Smith Campus Ministries Center. Beginning Nov. 6, you’ll find collection boxes at more than a dozen campus locations, from the Bryan School to the Weatherspoon Art Museum.
Throughout the year, here are the items needed most:
- Food and cooking supplies: cereal, canned meats, pasta and sauce, granola bars, microwaveable soups, rice, cooking oil
- Personal hygiene products: deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, menstrual hygiene items
You can also check Spartan Open Pantry’s social media channels for the most-needed items each week.
If you’d prefer to make an even bigger impact, please consider a monetary donation via the SAFE or Spartan Food Insecurity funds or Spartan Open Pantry directly.
“We will need everyone who supports our work to help in any way they can,” said Andrew Mails-Saine, executive director of Spartan Open Pantry. “If you can donate, volunteer, or organize, now is the time. We will do everything we can to ensure that no Spartan goes hungry.”
Thank you for standing with our UNCG family.
Sincerely,
Franklin D. Gilliam, Jr.
Chancellor
