Dear Spartans,

I am pleased to share our newly revised strategic plan. It will serve as the blueprint over the next five years as it builds on and revises the Giant Steps plan that was introduced in 2017. Given the cataclysmic changes in our country and around the world, re-engineering our strategic plan is essential to the future of the university.

This updated plan, Forward Together, outlines ambitious but achievable goals to propel our University to even higher levels of performance, impact and recognition.

The plan centers our priorities to better serve our student body and to foster research, scholarship, and creative work that will have an impact on the world and improve the way we manage our University and deploy its resources. It offers key measurements that enable us to track our progress toward our goals.

The 22-member Strategic Plan Advisory Committee, led by Professor Wade Maki, Chancellor’s Fellow for Strategic Planning, did outstanding work over the last nine months, gathering perspectives and ideas from across the University. I commend the committee for their commitment and service. They’ve produced a meaningful and compelling plan that is authentic to who we are and will have a significant impact on the history of our great institution.

Working together with a unified purpose, we will lift the University to new heights over the next five years by focusing on the initiatives, programs, and investments that hold the most promise. You can read the Forward Together plan here
