With the end of the semester approaching, retirement announcements and searches signal several leadership changes ahead for UNCG.

Chief Human Resources Officer

Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Relations Officer Jeanne Madorin will retire in December after 32 years in the System and nearly six years at UNCG. Since arriving at UNCG in February 2019, Madorin has been instrumental in building up the university’s Human Resources division and overseeing all HR functions. Under her leadership, the university recently became the first public university in the state to receive the Family Forward Certification for creating a family-friendly environment for employees and fostering incentives that boost retention and recruitment. A search will be launched in April 2025 with the goal of naming a new CHRO in summer or early fall 2025. Deputy Chief Human Relations Officer Patricia Lynch will serve in the interim.

Chief of Police

UNCG Police Chief Eric Boyce will retire at the end of December after three years at UNCG and 27 years in the System. During his tenure at UNCG, Boyce has built positive relationships with the student body and taken on the Emergency Management function as part of consolidation within Finance and Administration. He also led his department to gain reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. He further enhanced the department’s community engagement with the addition of Odin, the comfort dog, and implemented innovative technologies to enhance safety on campus.

The University is also seeking a new Director of External Affairs to collaborate with key campus constituencies in strategy development and relationship building with important external partners, including local, state, and federal government agencies. The position has been posted and can be found here. The goal is to have it filled by January.
