Welcome Back Spring 2024

Posted on January 08, 2024

Dear Students,

With 2024 upon us, I’m delighted to welcome you back for the spring semester. In the weeks since December Commencement, we have missed the life you bring to campus! This January, we are expanding the Spartan family with more than 800 new, transfer, and readmitted students. As you resume classes, think back to your first few weeks here and keep an eye out for our new Spartans who may need help navigating campus. Keep an eye out for me too – we just might cross paths when I have a chance to venture out on campus in the G Whip.

The mid-academic-year break was a prime chance not just to rest up but to think about our direction and what comes next. I hope you’re returning rejuvenated — and refocused — for your coursework and for our purpose as a community. Remember, as a campus we are committed to supporting one another and your well-being and overall success throughout the year.

The semester ahead promises to be a busy one. We will welcome nationally known artists as part of our University Concert and Lecture Series. Both basketball teams are taking on long-standing rivals this season. And across campus, we have daily opportunities for research and discoveries that will impact lives and communities.

Each of us is fortunate to be part of the UNCG tradition — a legacy of constant innovation that unlocks our greatest potential. That work continues early in 2024 with our academic portfolio review. In the next few weeks, you’ll hear more about this assessment that is helping position the University to make its biggest impact — and do the most good — in the decades to come.

In the meantime, thanks for your energy and enthusiasm as we kick off the year. Have a great semester and as always…

Go Spartans!
